How to choose a suitable litter
When choosing a suitable bentonite litter, you should focus on the following parameters:
- Absorption – a parameter determining the ability of the litter to soak up liquid into a solid clump. The solid clump should be as flat as possible so that the liquid does not reach the bottom of the container. To determine absorption, we subjected the litters to two laboratory tests:
- The Enslit test DIN 18132 determines the percentage (%) ability to absorb liquids in relation to their volume. The higher this percentage, the higher the quality of the litter. This test can only be used to compare litters of the same origin.
- The consumption test determines how many cm3 of litter is needed to absorb 60 ml of liquid under laboratory conditions at a stable temperature, under a constant flow of liquid, and using calibrated measuring equipment. The advantage of this test is that it is possible to compare litters of different origins.
- Granulation – the granulation or grain size of the litter is stated in mm. The following rule applies: the smaller the granules, the larger their surface area, and thus the better their ability to absorb liquids. However, the smaller they are, the dustier they also are (below 0.1 mm) and the more easily they are carried out of the litter box. Litters are thus divided into dusty (0.0 – 0.3 mm), fine (0.4 – 2 mm), medium (up to 4 mm), and coarse (4 – 6 mm).
- Scent – adding scents to bentonite litters has various reasons. The main one is additional absorption of unpleasant odors and increased home comfort. The intensity of unwanted odor is different for every cat – it is influenced by age, breed, diet composition, health status, etc. Another reason is the pickiness of the cat itself; some prefer a pleasant scent, while others choose the classic.

Canadian Cat cat litter
Super Benek brings you Canadian Cat litter, the top line of bentonite litter. Slovak bentonite has undergone an innovative double activation process to maximize its absorption properties, and at the same time the granulate is free of sharp edges, making it very pleasant to the touch. The granulate has a fine grain size (0.4 – 2 mm) of light gray to white color. According to the German DIN 18132 standard, the litter has an increased absorption capacity of up to 450%.
In the consumption test, the litter performed excellently, with a consumption of 45 cm3 for the absorption of 60 ml of liquid. You can choose Canadian Cat in three different scents: natural, lavender, and baby powder. It is intended for all types of cats of any age.

Super Benek brings you the Corn Cat line of litter, made from ground corn. Corn Cat has a natural yellow to golden color in the form of solid yet fine granules with a size of 1 – 4 mm. This size and weight ensure minimal tracking out of the litter box and sticking to cat fur. Upon contact with liquid, it forms compact solid clumps and excellently absorbs unwanted odors. The formed clumps completely disintegrate upon contact with a large amount of water. Corn Cat is a purely natural product, without any addition of extra chemical substances. In case your cat accidentally swallows the litter, you do not need to worry, it will safely excrete it. Repeated consumption of litter may signal a lack of nutrients in the regular diet; it is advisable to supplement the diet or consult a veterinarian. According to the German DIN 18132 standard, the litter has a 150% absorption capacity.

- WARNING: Clumps in small quantities can be flushed in the toilet without any problem. However, do not flush a larger amount of clumps under any circumstances, as there is a risk of clogging the sewage system. Before flushing, please check whether this is regulated by local ordinances to avoid potential complications.

Super Benek Corn 40 l
Super Benek Pinio cat litter
Super Benek brings you the PINIO line of litter. These are wooden pellets with a diameter of 6 mm made of spruce wood. The pellets have a light brown color and a characteristic natural aroma. It is a universal litter intended not only for cats but also for rodents (rabbits, guinea pigs older than 6 months), birds, and lizards. Upon contact with water, the litter breaks down and absorbs unpleasant odors well. The litter is purely natural and 100% compostable because it contains no chemical substances. PINIO is an ideal top layer for rabbits, guinea pigs, lizards, or birds. For the bottom layer, it is suitable to use Super Benek Economic or Universal Compact for longer litter durability and better odor absorption in the cage or terrarium.
- Instructions for use: Pour the litter into the cat litter box. Continuously remove solid waste from the litter box with a scoop. Refill the toilet with clean litter to a layer height of at least 7 cm. When using the litter in combination with bentonite litters (Super Benek Economic or Universal Compact series), a 3–4 cm layer of PINIO and approx. 2 cm of bentonite litter is sufficient. In the case of rodents (large amounts of droppings), it is advisable to regularly mix the litter so that smaller impurities get between and under the litter. Complete litter replacement as needed, on average once every 1–2 weeks.
- Composition: Spruce wood. 100% compostable.
When choosing a suitable litter for your cat, always consider the most important criteria, such as the dustiness of the litter, its ability to absorb odors and liquids, the method of disposal, and, of course, the price. For individual types of litter, you can usually also choose the package size. So start with a smaller amount of litter, and if both you and your cat are satisfied, it is time to move to a larger and more economically advantageous package.
